Fondazione Iris Ceramica Group has teamed up with Sea Shepherd to support “Operation Siso” in safeguarding our seas and the marine ecosystem.
A sustainable business model to protect our planet’s resources: the Blue Economy
starts here too, by safeguarding our seas and oceans.
Dedicated and active in the field of environmental protection in accordance with its statute, Fondazione Iris Ceramica Group has decided to support Sea Shepherd, an international non-profit organization founded in 1977, which is committed to stopping the destruction of the natural habitat of our oceans in order to conserve and protect biodiversity and prevent the excessive exploitation of marine resources.
The Foundation has decided to support “Operation Siso”, a campaign launched in 2019, with the aim of fighting illegal fishing activities off the coasts of the Aeolian Islands, in the Tyrrhenian Sea. Such illicit activities are carried out by unauthorized fishing vessels using illegal devices, which threaten the survival of the marine ecosystem on a daily basis. The goal of “Operation Siso” is to track down and eliminate approximately 10,000 km of illegal FADs (Fishing Aggregating Devices), which are believed to have been placed in the Aeolian archipelago, in order to make seas healthy again.
Supporting Sea Shepherd is a tangible example of the commitment and sense of responsibility that Iris Ceramica Group, through its Foundation, has towards the planet.
Given the numerous problems affecting our seas, it is becoming increasingly urgent and necessary to take a strong stand against the depletion of resources and to ensure their conservation and reproduction.
