FONDAZIONE IRIS CERAMICA GROUP AND SEA SHEPHERD ITALIA TOGETHER FOR OCEAN PROTECTION

Fondazione Iris Ceramica Group remains firmly alongside Sea Shepherd Italia: a long-standing partnership built on shared goals such as protecting marine environment, fighting pollution, and taking concrete action for biodiversity.

In 2025, the Ghostnet campaign carried out numerous operations across the Mediterranean, including Isola delle Femmine, Punta Carena in Capri, Secca di Penta Palummo, and Banco di Miseno, with over 120 hours of diving dedicated to recovering ghost nets and discarded fishing gear.

Notably, during a training session in Ognina (near Syracuse), volunteers and expert divers retrieved around 500 meters of abandoned fishing nets, weighing nearly half a ton. A particularly meaningful element was the participation of Paralympic athlete Diego Gastaldi, who emphasized how marine conservation is an inclusive and accessible commitment for everyone. The team also welcomed its first female diver, and with specific training, developed new skills and safe techniques for net recovery.

The collaboration between Fondazione Iris Ceramica Group and Sea Shepherd Italia stands as a model of effective synergy, combining expertise, energy, and resources to defend biodiversity and protect marine ecosystems.
