The Foundation's commitment to a sustainable future continues with the adoption of bees in the “heart of the city”.
Fondazione Iris Ceramica Group supports Apicoltura Urbana hosting 9 hives with around 270,000 bees in the green areas of the Presidency and the Group’s companies. An effective, concrete action helping local well-being by protecting biodiversity and species at risk of extinction.
Apicoltura Urbanabis the first Italian organisation dealing in biodiversity, education, awareness raising, bio-monitoring and information. It contributes to the Global Goals of the UN Agenda 2030 by making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, durable and sustainable through activities that safeguard the natural heritage. Studying the life of bee swarms can offer insight into some aspects of the impact of human activity on the environment and the conservation of biodiversity, also monitoring the state of health of the surrounding area.
Through this partnership, specialist beekeepers will take care of the bees adopted by the Group, checking their state of health using intelligent monitoring devices and collecting the honey they produce. In the near future it will therefore also be possible to organise guided tours with talks on the importance of pollinators for all employees and their families, continuing the work to raise awareness on the sustainability and biodiversity issues on which the Foundation's work is based.
Once again, Fondazione Iris Ceramica Group demonstrates its commitment to a better future by supporting a project aiming to protect the territory and the environment and safeguarding biodiversity.
