HYBRID OPERATING ROOM
THE NEW HYBRID OPERATING ROOM AT BAGGIOVARA HOSPITAL, SUPPORTING PATIENT CARE
Baggiovara Hospital (MO) has installed a pioneering Hybrid Operating Room, developed also with the participation of Fondazione Iris Ceramica Group. This is a special super-hi-tech operating room where over 700 surgeries are performed every year, including immediate diagnoses and the possibility to continuously monitor the progress of the surgery without having to move the patient.
The positive effects assured by the new Hybrid Operating Room were examined in an in-depth impact assessment. The study was conducted with the study group led by Prof. Ulpiana Kocollari from the UNIMORE Department of Economics, and the process was controlled by an Independent Review to measure the Social Impact produced.
The results of the study show that improvements are expected in various fields:
– 50% reduction in health worker stress levels, consequently improving quality of work
– 22.5% improvement in the professional skills of health workers and the level of student competencies, with hours of training delivered in the Hybrid Operating Room
– Annual savings of between EUR 30,000 and 100,000 thanks to the increase in diagnostic capacity and the precision of treatment
– 30% increase in scientific publications
– 70% increase in material test requests
The impact assessment confirmed the value of the commitment of Fondazione Iris Ceramica Group in supporting social and environmental initiatives that will be used as a benchmark for future projects.
