As part of the Iris Ceramica Group sustainable development strategies for a better future, our Foundation is the promoter and supporter of the Post Carbon Architecture project led by SOS – School of Sustainability. The project sets out to study urban bio-regeneration projects based on climate data and future scenarios, starting from the ceramic district to become a best practice also in other districts.

The first phase of research, now concluded, includes:

– An environmental and climatic analysis, conducted by the Department of Engineering and Architecture at the University of Parma, involving five areas from the urban to the agricultural fabric, in a climate scenario perspective from 2030 to 2050. This has led to the creation of a data matrix that can be used to check the impact of individual architectural and urban development projects on human health and in relation to climate change.

– A mobility analysis, conducted by the Milan-based firm MIC Mobility In Chain, which, starting from a small scale, helped to create a strategic map of the actions required to improve commuter conditions.

The mobility project will be integrated with the urban strategy project to ensure that each action is also based on a climate analysis, a sustainability check and the improvement of quality of life and mobility impacts.

Once again, our Foundation is supporting a project that bears witness to our commitment to a sustainable future, also demonstrating the importance of interaction between the design and mobility worlds, university research and the use of big data.
