About CSR

CSR is an acronym for Corporate Social Responsibility a term that establishes the commitments and actions an organization should undertake as a whole, in order to act appropriately in economic, social and environmental terms.
In 2001, the European Commission defined CSR as a concept whereby companies “integrate social and environmental concerns in their business operations and their interaction with their stakeholders on a voluntary basis”.

The Company’s manufacturing stages unquestionably have an impact on society and the environment.
This incontrovertible fact leads to the unavoidable: explicit assumption of responsibility.
Based on this, the strategic and operational guidelines of companies must respond to the economic, environmental and social needs of the community, adopting measures aimed at environmental protection, sustainable lifestyles and consumption.

This commitment should be aimed at long-term collective benefits and cannot be limited to mere compliance with rules and regulations.
This is the UN-approved Global Agenda for Sustainable Development’s approach, which identifies 17 goals to be achieved by 2030. It promotes an integrated vision of development in which all the component elements of society are involved, from businesses to institutions, which must periodically report the results to the Organization and the public in general.

The report, or statement of activities carried out and investments intended for that purpose, should provide maximum transparency in respect of Iris Ceramica Group interaction with communities, institutions, trade associations, universities and stakeholders in general.

PUBLICATION OF THE FIRST SUSTAINABILITY REPORT

This first sustainability report was created with the aim of reporting to the main stakeholders in a transparent manner, bringing complex aspects of the business to their attention, outlining results achieved and informing them of future key objectives set by the Group, with a view to discussion, ongoing improvement and sharing.
The report has been prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative Standard. The starting point for this first year was "Core" level, considered almost entirely achieved.
Any data omitted is due to the complex structure of the Group and extremely varied regulatory requirements to which some of our companies are subject. Nonetheless, the report encompasses all the businesses in the Group and includes data obtained for the years 2017 and 2018.
